Training at Familycare Basel

It is important for us to integrate our apprentices into all work processes from the very beginning. Every year, we offer apprenticeships in our nine daycare centers, where apprentices are given plenty of space for valuable experience, varied care tasks and professional guidance. They are individually supported and specifically prepared for their professional life by being accompanied in everyday life and in regular instruction sessions.

Our nine daycare centers are run according to the guidelines of the umbrella association for childcare kibesuisse (Kindertagesstätten Schweiz). A well-trained care staff, a child-friendly environment and a proven pedagogical concept build the basis for our high quality work. Vocational trainers are employed in every daycare center; they in turn are supported by an experienced senior vocational training officer. A superordinate Head of Training ensures the implementation of consistent and progressive training standards and the quality assurance of our training.

We currently offer generally the following training positions:

  • Specialist Childcare EFZ
  • Higher technical school Child education (HF)
  • Backlog (Art. 32) FaBe Child EFZ
  • Shortened basic education FaBe Child EFZ

In the area of childcare, the holistic development of children is crucial. Childcare specialists EFZ accompany children attentively and benevolently in their everyday lives. They support and promote the individual development of the children according to their needs and interests. They offer the children a variety of learning experiences in the linguistic, cognitive and motor areas and thus promote their personal development and social behavior. Childcare specialists EFZ design everyday life according to age and situation with guided activities, free play, individual and group activities. They cultivate a trusting cooperation with the child's relatives and with industry-specific professionals.
The training to become a childcare specialist EFZ lasts three years. Apprentices who have reached the age of 22 and already have two years of professional experience in this field can complete the shortened basic education FaBe Child EFZ or the back-log training (Art. 32) FaBe Child EFZ. «During my apprenticeship at Familycare Basel, I was challenged and encouraged. If I had any questions, there was always someone available to answer them with expertise. The apprenticeship at Familycare Basel filled my life. The children beamed, greeted me and fun was never neglected. In such situations or during excursions I learned a lot. The professionals explained to me the situation and the actions of the children based on pedagogical theories.»
