UPDATE 10: CORONAVIRUS - PRESS RELEASE OF THE FEDERAL COUNCIL BY APRIL 17, 2020

In yesterday's media release of April 16, 2020, the Federal Council provided information on the gradual loosening of measures to protect against the new coronavirus. Compulsory schools are to be reopened from May 11, 2020. The Federal Council intends to take the final decision on this on April 29, 2020.

Familycare Basel is now awaiting the next instructions from the cantons of Basel-Stadt and Basel-Landschaft on how to proceed. However, the cantons themselves still have a number of follow-up questions which are currently being clarified. We hope to receive feedback from the cantons in the course of next week and will inform you immediately.

With regard to the planned new admissions and the settling in of children in May 2020, the managers of the daycare centers will contact the respective families directly.

For the month of May 2020, Familycare Basel will not yet issue invoices for parental contributions until further notice. We therefore also recommend suspending payments in the form of standing orders for the month of May 2020. Any parental contributions due for the month of May 2020 will be invoiced at a later date or offset against your credit balance.

Families whose children continue to be looked after in the daycare centers based on the current daycare contract are not affected by the suspension of the standing orders.

The daycare centers remain open for healthy children of parents who work in health professions or have other mandatory work obligations and are therefore unable to organise childcare elsewhere at short notice. This exception also applies in emergencies where only grandparents can provide childcare.

We will inform you as soon as we have more information and thank you for your understanding and solidarity in this extraordinary situation.
