UPDATE 4: CORONAVIRUS / CLOSING OF DAYCARE CENTERS IN BASEL-STADT BY MONDAY, MARCH 16, 2020

Dear parents,

Due to the tightening of the corona measures by the Bundesrat and the associated closure of all schools, kindergartens and daycare centers, all Familycare Basel daycare centers in the cantons of Basel-Stadt will also remain closed until April 4, 2020.

On Monday, March 16, 2020, Familycare Basel's daycare centers will only be open to healthy children of parents who work in healthcare professions or have other mandatory work obligations and are therefore unable to organize childcare elsewhere at short notice. This exception also applies in emergencies where only grandparents can provide childcare.

As the Bundesrat and the cantons have communicated, and also in the interests of the health of your family too, we appeal to you to consider the closure of the daycare centers and to seek alternative care solutions, such as individual agreements with your employer (home office, reduction of overtime, holidays, etc.) or to organize solutions within the family as well as within your circle of friends or neighborhood by yourself.

For the maintenance of the healthcare system, especially the operation of hospitals, our emergency nanny pool is available with immediate effect exclusively for the group of people in the healthcare system defined by the canton, such as doctors and nursing staff. Please contact our office for this purpose: +41 61 261 45 61 or via info(at)familycare.ch.

As we have been informed by the authorities today, an enquiry into the individual care situations in the daycare centers is planned for Tuesday, March 17, 2020. The authorities will then decide on further measures. We will keep you informed on the developments and inform you in good time about the reopening of the daycare centers.

For us, too, this is a new situation, which we must now face and will face. We are all needed now!

We thank you for your understanding and solidarity in this extraordinary situation.
