On September 1, 2020, Familycare Basel took part in the kickoff meeting for the model project "Netzwerk Westfeld". On the 35,000 m2 site previously used by the Felix Platter Hospital, a lively new district is growing in the west of Basel. Under the name Westfeld, not only cooperative, socially mixed living space with around 530 apartments is being created. Rather, it will be an actual district center with stores, small businesses, as well as care and leisure facilities for a high quality of life and recreation. 

Familycare Basel will be on site from around January 2023 with the eighth daycare center (Kita Familycare Westfeld) and around 45 childcare places - in premises optimally tailored to the needs of children and employees.

The model project "Netzwerk Westfeld" includes the initiation, development and consolidation of a network of residential, neighborhood, service and authority partners. Through early participatory planning, the aim is to jointly determine how to live, work and manage on the Westfeld in the future.
